What the table tells you
- Sends scale with your tier. Pro includes 10,000 emails a month up to 1,000 subscribers, then 10× the top of your tier from 2,500 up. At 2,500 that’s 25,000 sends, enough for about ten emails a month to a full list, by our arithmetic.
- Yearly billing saves 10–11%. The page labels it “Save 10%”. By our arithmetic, the saving is $12 a year at 500 subscribers, $18 at 1,000, $24 at 2,500, $42 at 5,000 and $54 at 10,000.
- The per-subscriber price falls as you grow. If your list fills its tier, Pro on monthly billing costs about 1.35¢ per subscriber a month at 1,000, 0.8¢ at 2,500, 0.45¢ at 10,000 and 0.35¢ at 100,000, by our arithmetic.
- Nonprofit example: 20% off Pro’s $20 monthly price at 2,500 subscribers is $16 a month, by our arithmetic. The pricing page doesn’t say whether the nonprofit discount combines with yearly billing, so ask EmailOctopus.
What Free and Pro include
The plan cards and the “Compare features” table on the pricing page list these differences (checked October 7, 2026):
| Feature | Starter (Free) | Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Subscribers and emails | 2,500 subscribers · 10,000 emails/month | By tier (see table above) |
| EmailOctopus branding | On your emails, forms and landing pages | Removed |
| Landing pages and forms | 1 landing page and 1 form | Unlimited |
| Automations | Up to 3 sequences, up to 5 steps each, one trigger | Up to 650 steps per sequence, up to 3 triggers |
| Custom fields and tags | Up to 10 each | Up to 50 each |
| Reports | Kept for 30 days | Kept forever |
| Users | 1 user | Unlimited users, with roles |
| Subscriber profile pages | No | Yes |
| Support | Email support, plus chat for the first 30 days | Priority chat and email support |
Both plans include the drag-and-drop and HTML email builder, 100+ templates, merge-tag personalisation, the landing page builder, single and double opt-in, advanced segmentation, open and click tracking, Google Analytics, sending from your own domain with DKIM and SPF, API access, and Zapier and Make integrations. Pro also adds “full control over your email design” and “cancel any time” on its plan card.
When the free plan stops being enough: by our arithmetic, a weekly newsletter sent four times a month to 2,500 subscribers uses the whole 10,000-email allowance, and five sends a month fit only up to 2,000 subscribers. Branding, the single form and 30-day reports are the other usual reasons to move to Pro.
EmailOctopus Connect: the Amazon SES version
EmailOctopus also sells EmailOctopus Connect, which routes your emails through your own Amazon SES account. Its pricing page lists a free Starter plan for 2,500 subscribers and Pro plans with unlimited emails per month, with the same branding, report, landing page and user limits as the standard plans. Sending through SES means you’ll also have an account with Amazon, so check Amazon’s SES pricing before you pick this route.
| Subscribers (up to) | Connect Pro, monthly | Connect Pro, billed yearly (per month) |
|---|---|---|
| 500 | $9 | $8 |
| 1,000 | $11.50 | $10 |
| 2,500 | $17 | $15 |
| 5,000 | $26 | $23 |
| 10,000 | $33.50 | $30 |
| 50,000 | $100 | $90 |
| 100,000 | $178 | $160 |
| 500,000 | $645 | $580 |

How EmailOctopus billing works
From the FAQ and notes on EmailOctopus’s pricing page:
- Monthly or annual plans. You can upgrade any time, and you can downgrade or cancel auto-renew before your next billing period.
- Automatic upgrades. If your list grows beyond your plan, EmailOctopus moves you to the plan that fits your new contact count and emails you when it happens.
- No free trial. EmailOctopus recommends starting on the free plan instead, which has no time limit and needs no credit card.
- Payment: major credit and debit cards and PayPal, processed through Stripe.
- Over 500,000 subscribers: contact EmailOctopus for a custom quote.
The pricing page doesn’t say what happens if you go over your monthly email allowance without going over your subscriber tier, so if you send often, ask EmailOctopus before you choose a tier.
EmailOctopus vs MailerLite on price
On price alone, EmailOctopus is cheaper. Its free plan holds 2,500 subscribers against 250 on MailerLite Free, and Pro costs less than MailerLite Comfort at every list size below:
| Subscribers (up to) | EmailOctopus Pro, monthly / billed yearly | MailerLite Comfort, monthly / billed yearly |
|---|---|---|
| 250 | $0 on Starter | $0 on Free (2,500 emails a month) |
| 500 | $10 / $9 | $12 / $10.80 |
| 1,000 | $13.50 / $12 | $19 / $17.10 |
| 2,500 | $0 on Starter, or $20 / $18 on Pro | $33 / $29.70 |
| 5,000 | $31.50 / $28 | $49 / $44.10 |
| 10,000 | $44.50 / $40 | $89 / $80.10 |

Automations aren’t the deciding factor either: both free plans allow 3 automations of up to 5 steps. MailerLite earns its extra cost with a website builder with a blog, digital product sales (1 product on Free) and, on Comfort, paid newsletters and RSS-to-email. None of those appear on EmailOctopus’s pricing page. If you only need to send a newsletter, EmailOctopus is the better-value choice. If you want a site and a way to sell from the same tool, see MailerLite pricing or start MailerLite free (affiliate link). The full head-to-head is in MailerLite vs EmailOctopus.
Which EmailOctopus plan should you pick?
- Stay on Starter while you have up to 2,500 subscribers, send no more than 10,000 emails a month, and don’t mind EmailOctopus branding or 30-day reports.
- Pick Pro when you pass 2,500 subscribers, need more sends, want more than one form or landing page, or want branding removed. At 2,500 subscribers it’s $20 a month, or $18 billed yearly.
- Consider Connect only if you already use Amazon SES or want unlimited sends and are comfortable managing an Amazon account.
- Pay yearly once your list size is predictable; it saves 10–11% by our arithmetic.
