MailerLite vs ActiveCampaign (2026): pricing, automation and CRM compared
MailerLite is the better value for most creators; ActiveCampaign is the deeper automation and CRM tool, at a higher price. Here’s what each costs from 1,000 to 10,000 contacts, how each counts your list, and who should pick which, from both vendors’ own pages.

Quick verdict
Pick MailerLite if you want newsletters, automations, landing pages and paid newsletters at the lowest price. It has a free plan, it only bills for active subscribers, and Comfort costs $19 a month (or $17.10 billed yearly) at up to 1,000 subscribers. It’s our value pick for most creators.
Pick ActiveCampaign if automation and customer data run your business: unlimited automation actions from Plus, deeper segmentation tiers, site messages, predictive sending on Pro, and deals and pipelines through a CRM add-on. Plus is $59 a month (or $49 billed yearly) at 1,000 contacts.
The catch with each: MailerLite’s pricing page doesn’t list deals or pipelines, and Comfort caps you at 50 active automations. ActiveCampaign has no free plan, and accounts created since November 3, 2025 pay for every contact, including unsubscribed and bounced ones.

How we made this page. MailerLite figures come from its pricing page and help center. ActiveCampaign’s billed-yearly prices are the ones its pricing page shows at each contact count; its monthly prices come from the price data that page loads. Anything we calculated is labelled “by our arithmetic.” We don’t buy or trial the tools ourselves.

MailerLite tiers are “up to” that many active subscribers; ActiveCampaign tiers are that many contacts. Exact ActiveCampaign prices for your list are in ActiveCampaign’s pricing calculator; every tier up to 50,000 contacts is in our ActiveCampaign pricing guide. MailerLite says its prices may be subject to applicable taxes. MailerLite prices checked on mailerlite.com/pricing, October 7, 2026.
What a year costs, by our arithmetic, on yearly billing:
1,000: ActiveCampaign Starter $180 vs MailerLite Comfort $205.20. Starter is $25.20 cheaper, but it allows only 5 actions per automation and doesn’t include landing pages.
Comparable plans with landing pages and longer automations: ActiveCampaign Plus vs MailerLite Comfort is $588 vs $205.20 at 1,000 (a $382.80 gap), $1,140 vs $356.40 at 2,500 ($783.60), $1,740 vs $529.20 at 5,000 ($1,210.80) and $2,268 vs $961.20 at 10,000 ($1,306.80).
MailerLite bills on unique active subscribers. Unsubscribed and bounced contacts don’t count. Counting is cumulative within each billing cycle, so a subscriber you delete still counts until your billing date resets the count. On a paid plan, going over your tier upgrades you automatically and charges you for the next one.
ActiveCampaign counts every contact on accounts created on or after November 3, 2025: active, unconfirmed, unsubscribed or bounced. Older accounts count only active contacts. At the limit you can’t send campaigns, and automations skip their email steps. The limit doesn’t rise on its own unless you turn on auto-upgrade.
Example, by our arithmetic: 900 active subscribers plus 200 who unsubscribed before your current billing cycle. MailerLite counts 900 (it counts anyone who was active at any point in the current cycle, so recent unsubscribes still count until your billing date), which fits the up-to-1,000 tier. A new ActiveCampaign account counts 1,100, which needs its next tier, 2,500 contacts, unless you delete the unsubscribed contacts.
Free plan vs free trial
MailerLite Free covers up to 250 subscribers and 2,500 emails a month, with 3 automations, 1 website and 1 landing page, and 2 seats. Going over 250 locks sending until you upgrade or remove subscribers. New accounts also get a 14-day trial of many paid features with no payment method. The trial keeps the 250-subscriber and 2,500-email caps, and the account drops back to Free afterwards without losing data. See our MailerLite free plan guide.
ActiveCampaign has no free plan. Its 14-day trial needs no credit card and matches Professional-plan features, with 1 user and up to 100 email sends. ActiveCampaign’s pages disagree on contacts: its FAQ says up to 100, while its help center (updated July 7, 2026) says as many as you need. After you pay, a 30-day money-back guarantee applies to first-time paid subscribers.
Automation, segmentation and CRM
Automations
MailerLite’s visual builder is on every plan: 3 active automations on Free (5 steps), 50 on Comfort and unlimited on Power, with up to 100 steps on paid plans and multiple triggers on Power. ActiveCampaign limits Starter to 5 actions per automation and removes the cap from Plus up. It also lists multiple triggers on every plan, 950+ prebuilt recipes, and automation A/B tests on Pro.
Segmentation and personalization
MailerLite includes unlimited dynamic segments, groups and tags on every plan, and dynamic (conditional) email content on Comfort and Power. ActiveCampaign tiers its segmentation (limited on Starter, advanced on Pro, premium on Enterprise) and adds site tracking on all plans, site messages from Plus, and conditional content and predictive sending on Pro.
CRM and deals
This is ActiveCampaign’s clearest advantage. Contact profiles are on every plan, and the Pipelines add-on (Plus and up, priced separately) adds deal records, pipeline management and lead scoring. Enterprise adds Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics integrations. MailerLite has subscriber profiles, but its pricing page doesn’t list deals or pipelines.
Paid newsletters, payments and courses
Paid newsletters: MailerLite lists paid newsletters and recurring subscriptions on Comfort and Power, through its Stripe integration, plus digital products and bookings (1 on Free, 5 on Comfort, unlimited on Power). ActiveCampaign’s pricing page doesn’t list a paid-newsletter feature.
Payments: MailerLite lists Stripe, Shopify and WooCommerce on every plan. ActiveCampaign lists Shopify, WooCommerce, Square and abandoned-cart automation on every plan, Stripe and PayPal from Plus, and recurring payments from Pro.
Courses: ActiveCampaign’s app directory lists Teachable, Thinkific and Kajabi integrations as included on all plans. MailerLite’s integrations directory lists Kajabi and Thinkific as third-party connections through tools such as Zapier.
